Q – Can any Gate be Automated?
A – Probably. We offer at least 16 different automation systems to cover all possibilities. You would be very unlucky to have gates, which cannot be automated. The geometry and dimensions of the hinge and posts is most important. Fill in our customer survey sheet and send it back to us if you are unsure over which system is compatible.
Q – What is the advantage of underground motors?
A – Underground motors are generally preferred because the motors are hidden out of sight and don’t spoil the aesthetics of the gate, however underground systems are more expensive than above ground systems and the installation takes slightly longer.
Q – What happens if there is a power cut?
A – All systems have a manual release key in case of a power cut or system failure. Many of our systems offer a battery back up and still work as normal in a power cut.
Q – Can a large 5 bar gate be automated?
A – Yes, we have many systems available and can automate gates up to 5 meters per leaf.
Q – I have gates fitted in the centre of brick pillars, can they be automated with above ground rams?
A – No, the correct geometry could not be obtained. However, the Livi 500 system is designed for this application.
Q – Can you fit underground motors in wet locations?
Generally no as most motors need good drainage. However we do offer the Sub 180 for such situations which is completely sealed.
Q – Are the automation systems easy to fit?
A – We would always recommend the installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, but we do offer a full technical back up service via free use of our telephone help-line.
Q – Are there any safety features included on the systems?
A – Yes, all the systems are supplied with a pair of infrared photo sensors which will stop the gate from closing on a person or car etc. For additional protection you may add additional photocells or vehicle detectors.
Q – Can anybody open my gates with other transmitters?
No, all transmitters can be coded with a individual code for total security.
Q – How do visitors get in once the gates are shut?
A – If your automatic gates are your only means of access then you will need an intercom system. See our range under ‘Access Control’. |
